Another series of quote book pages.

Printed this quote on tissue paper - I love the wrinkles as it creates texture. The blue leaf is a die cut using my Cuttlebug. Attached with foam dots to give it dimension.

The above started out with a quote on a ATC card that I digitally designed.

The above is an oval "window" to show an image below it. (Will share in a separate post.) I hand stitched so this shows back which is not very neat looking.

I have been saving quotes over the years and decided to make my own scrapbook style quote book. The above was printed on vellum which reveals the leaf stamp below it. I scanned these in then digitally added the "Mask" design using Photoshop. I used one of Dover's stamps to create the mask. CLICK ON IMAGES SO YOU CAN READ THE QUOTES.

ATC's using roses etc.

I love upcycling bits and pieces from tissue boxes, old birthday cards etc to make things like these ATC,s. On the bottom picture I even added some fine curled wire.

ATC'S: Artist Trading Cards on letter background using MistyFuse

The bottom ATC was done as a sandwich using letters from crossword puzzle's on watercolor paper with a overlay of MistyFuse ironed on to make it all one "sandwich". See the full size of it on my background blog: http://rusticpixelbackgrounds.blogspot.com/

Some more ATC's!

Stenciled with gold texture paint then added some bling before adding this quote from a newspaper.

Did a background texture then added scraps of printed tissue and ripped text before finishing with a tissue overlay and Golden's Gel.

Made this ATC by painting different golds and a touch of soft pink on brown paper. Cut out a oval then inserted a photo from magazine. Finished off with pink ribbon and gold rub on spelling HI.

Added background with tissue paper that was stamped with the leaves then added text. Finishing with a frame from some watercolor play. Oh my these closeups reveal alot of extras!

Card Design

Kodak Slide Frames Recycled

I had fun covering these Kodak slides to make frames for putting on cards, collages, atc's etc.
The bottom two were covered with aluminum tape then done with alcohol inks. Stamped with a permanent ink before rubbing away the ink, which then left a design on the alcohol ink. I used various tools to make a emboss design at random. Background design can be found at my Rustic Pixel Background Blog.

My First ATC'S

My first Artist Trading Cards!

I have submitted these for a ATC Swap this weekend. Sometimes I find these little works of my art hard to part with ( as much as my larger pieces.) But I also like the thought that I will exchange for something different.

I have started another Blog! This one is for the backgrounds I have been creating with paint; some have been digitally altered. Please feel free to have a look and download any of them. Welcome to Lavendula Loveliness!

I understand that the word Lavendula is french for lavender. Lavender is one of my secret passionate colors. Many, many years ago it was a bathroom color they called Mauve or Lilac and as decorating trends come and go it lost it's popularity with many but I still loved it. Now it's still not the rage but can be found in "dusty" and powder lavender etc and goes nice with my colors; soft pink - so soft it looks barely blushing white when the sun is shining in and guess what it looks dusty soft lavender in the evening with a soft glow from the Victorian lampshades I hand stitch. Don't get me wrong I don't have a lot of it but I still love it.

Now the Loveliness part of my blog name. Many years ago I heard/read a piece of advice and I followed it to the best I am able and that is to "surround yourself with beautiful things." That is where the Loveliness comes from. These beautiful things I have tried to create myself. No, it does not always cost a lot of money - yes, it takes time. If I'm going to be sitting and looking at it I want it to look lovely / beautiful. Now remember that is in my "eyes" or opinion. I'm sure there will be more like me. I have been following other blogs with related interests and it has been confirmed we are really the same and yet we are different. Shabby Chic, Altered Art, Mixed Media Art, Artist Trading Cards, Collaged Canvas work, Paper Artistry, this is where I'm at in my own creative pursuits.

Now let me tell you about this tray I designed and assembled - of course I use this one for my first blog posting because it ties in with my blog name "Lavendula". Background was painted in swirl brush design before assembling the vintage piece of jewelery, piece of Irish Linen and other pieces of ephemera. It has a solid glass sealed overlay so it can be used on a vanity or as a tea tray. Sold the tray through our local art gallery.

Well I did it ...... got my first posting in and they say it's all easy from here.
