A short video of candles and a hand stitched lamp vignette. The base of the left and center thrift store candle holders were undesirable so I painted them white.

Tea And Coffee Lampshade

Hand stitched this lampshade.  I call it tea and coffee because I had trouble getting the right color for the fringe and gimp to finish it. So I dyed it with tea and coffee.   It is a pleasure to have on to illuminate this favorite corner.

Hand stitched twin lacey lampshades in whites.

I call these the twin lampshades. They are done similar except for the oblong panel which I used a wide sheer diamond ribbon on. These are hand stitched and fully lined. Takes approximately 35 to 40 hours for EACH one. I am hoping this winter to make another shade using vintages laces and linens in a patchwork design. Just need to do it all in my head first. White hand made lampshade with double fringe.

Just working with this photo inspires me to get busy and make another one. Notice it has a double fringe on it and is fully lined which makes it twice the work. Eye candy and actually useful when done.

Lavender lace and hand dyed pillow.

Hand dyed the cotton to make these pillows. They match the lampshade I posted on August 3rd, 2009. Used the leftover lace and cotton on both of these. Oh what fun when I try to customize everything!

Hand stitched moire lampshade with beaded tasseled fringe.

I hand stitched this lampshade which is fully lined. It is not recommended to use a vertical print for these but since it was a subtle cream moire fabric it did not present to much of a distraction. Since the shade is so large I put it on a floor lamp base which is over 50 years old, ( a family antique.)

This lamp shade is in my studio. Completed several years ago. I need to do a couple more so maybe this winter. Will post them when done.

Lavender lace lampshades made by hand.

Done by hand. Custom dyed the braid, (gimp), fringe and lining to coordinate with lace. Left the "eyes" sheer. When light is on it looks very interesting. Took approximately 35 hours. Made a decorator pillow to match. Will post it at a later date.

Lamp shade done by hand

I made two of these shades for our guest bedroom. I used a soft barely pink cotton. The fabric was glued on then frame ribs covered with white gimp. Finished off with a white fringe. The rosettes are done with a white chiffon on the front and back. I did not line these as it cuts down on the light for reading in this situation. Took about 30 hours for each one. I have since taken the course on hand stitching the fabric rather than gluing and it is more time consuming but makes a nicer shade where I have more control on how the fabric is applied. Will post in future some of the hand stitched shades. Oh so much to do and so little time! Thanks for viewing.
