Most of the gift tags I create are intended for the ladies so I decided I should do some in a masculine theme. This one is of nature using a recycled image glued on from a magazine. Did the back on card stock with a leaf stamp. Oh how I enjoyed making these. After downsizing I didn't know where to put this basket so I set it on this towel/plate rack in the bathroom. I love dried roses just as much as the real ones. All the detail in those dried petals!
To create this I used several elements. Started off with crushed printer paper that was dyed with printer ink then scanned it in to Photoshop. Added a scanned doily then embellished with picture of Victorian kids from Dover. Oh what fun.
The background started with some painting with Alcohol Inks on a absorbent cardstock which I wanted to experiment with as it is only recommended for shiny non absorbent surfaces. I then scanned it in and did some digital art then added image from Dover Sampler. I will be using it as a card. You are welcome to have the background by going to my Rustic Pixel Backgrounds blog.
I hand stitched this lampshade which is fully lined. It is not recommended to use a vertical print for these but since it was a subtle cream moire fabric it did not present to much of a distraction. Since the shade is so large I put it on a floor lamp base which is over 50 years old, ( a family antique.)

Several years ago I made this for a neighbors daughter for her graduation. She is now in university and heading in the direction of a Pediatrician. Her mother tells me she is still enjoying the tray. I gave this to her as I knew she played piano and was very musical. Sheet music was from a Etude music magazine dated 1902. I tried to include the date on the tray for nostalgia sake. As with most of my trays I did a glass overlay to protect the rather tactile pieces such as a vintage butterfly brooch in bottom right. The butterfly from Irish linen in upper right corner was from one of my shopping trips. When I did this I really didn't know what a collage of sorts was. It's been a year since I started my blog and I want to take this opportunity to thank all my followers and those of you who just stop by to see what I have been creating. I don't receive many comments so I really don't know what people are thinking but that may be due to the problem Blogger has with the Comments. Which leads me to the technical part of this post. I understand that Google's browser; CHROME was designed for viewing blogs. I have been using it and am able to leave comments even on my own blog now.
