Dried botanical Happy Birthday card.

Created this using kleenex and wax paper; making a sandwich then hand stitched to anchor it all together. Placed it on one of my own textured backgrounds for visual display.

This is for sale as a card on my Red Bubble site:

Dreams appeared gift box w botanical window.

Used Tattered Angels masks and sprays to create the background on this cardboard gift box. For the opening I created a "sandwich" of botanicals, wax paper and kleenex, and a snippet of sheet music that I found in my scrap pile on my studio table. Punched two holes below window and added a cotton ribbon I hand stamped the words "dream". Will fill with my hand made goodies and give as a gift.

Mini card series 2 using vintage looking playing card etc

Had fun using the set of playing cards by making mini cards with them. The bottom card looks flat but it is a oval image placed on the mini card with foam dots then tied the string at bottom.

Cameo tray with lace underlay.

Adhered the lace to bottom of tray then added cameo images and "cameo" centre with a gimp and bead surround. On the top of the tray I placed a vintage hat pin. Placed glass over it to conceal the different textured layers and sealed edges with silicone, then used beads to conceal the glue. Gave this away as a wedding gift. PS: I apologize for the reflection in the glass of me taking the picture - don't have that mastered yet! Thanks for looking.

My Dream - music cover pedestal.

Used the cover of a vintage music book to cover this pedestal top. This would look lovely on or near the piano. Thanks for viewing!

Some more mini envelopes from upcycled papers.

Used various papers for these mini envelopes. A great way to upcycle old papers and some of my art papers which I created using coffee in a spray bottle over a plastic lace tablecloth.

Martini glass with some pizzaz!

Used vintage papers on the outside of this glass. Painted the bottom with black acrylic paint then gave it a coat of liquid floor wax. Can be filled with paper clips if using in the home office or candy or if you sew, a great place to store pins and needles. Digital background texture courtesy of Kim Klassen.

Mini box holder for mini cards.

Made these mini boxes out of cardstock. Embossed the gold swirlies on to give it some glitter. I tuck in about 5 mini cards and voila it makes a nice quick little gift.
The background is from dried leaves that I made into a stamp to use in Photoshop.

Mini card series 4 upcycling pansy pictures.

Found these pansy images in a magazine which I ripped out and glued onto a mini card using cardstock. Inserted only the front into a embossing folder to give it some texture. Used sandpaper to go over the texture to lighten areas. Background leaves gathered from my garden and scanned to my pc. Processed with Photoshop as a "stamp".

Botanical grass journal.

Picked the grass while on a walk one day. When I got home I dried them between some pages in a phone book which flattened them. Sometimes when working at my studio table I often toss paper scraps into a box. This day I reached for those scraps and found these words. I think they call that serendipity! This journal has many layers. Finished it off with fun fibres on the coil spine. Bound with my Zutter machine.

Crazy quilt heart with vintage hankies and beaded chiffon edging.

Made this heart with vintage handkerchiefs etc. Printed out the word "Friend" onto chiffon and used it as an overlay. Used chiffon to conceal edges of foam core by adding a bead every inch or so finish it off. CLICK ON IMAGE TO SEE MORE OF THE DETAILS. Thanks for stopping by.

Spheres using vintage papers.

Started with a Styrofoam ball and covered with vintage papers. I will share at a later date how I display them.

Another series of quote book pages.

Printed this quote on tissue paper - I love the wrinkles as it creates texture. The blue leaf is a die cut using my Cuttlebug. Attached with foam dots to give it dimension.

The above started out with a quote on a ATC card that I digitally designed.

The above is an oval "window" to show an image below it. (Will share in a separate post.) I hand stitched so this shows back which is not very neat looking.

I have been saving quotes over the years and decided to make my own scrapbook style quote book. The above was printed on vellum which reveals the leaf stamp below it. I scanned these in then digitally added the "Mask" design using Photoshop. I used one of Dover's stamps to create the mask. CLICK ON IMAGES SO YOU CAN READ THE QUOTES.

Crazy quilt heart with fringed edging.

I was teaching myself how to do two things here: Crazy quilt patchwork and embroidery stitches. My signature stitch is the "dragon/butterfly". It is always a challenge how to finish these edges hence the fringed edging. This will be a gift for some young gal. CLICK ON IMAGE TO SEE DETAILS.

Be yourself .. an original is always more valuable than a copy quote page.

I have been having fun adding quotes to my garden pictures and using textures. Credit for the texture on this to Kim Klassen. This has been prepared to print out for my quote book at 7x7 inches square at 200 ppi. It will show on your download as 72 ppi. But what you can do is create a 7x7 document in 200 ppi and place this photo in it then it will print at the higher resolution. This confused me but upon research I learned that Photoshop shows at 72 ppi by default unless otherwise specified even though it is a larger resolution. I placed this picture in a 8x10 inch document at 300 ppi and took it to a photo kiosk and it printed just fine. Please let me know if this is incorrect.

Martini glass given a new life!

I made many of these and tried to make them all different. Used vintage papers from a very old music magazine. The papers are adhered with Golden's Medium on the outside. I ran a gold pen around the top rim to finish it off. Painted the bottom with black acrylic paint then gave it a coat of clear floor wax. I was inspired by Anna Corba.
I made the mask for displaying these two pictures using B K Swirl brushes.

Be less curious about people and more curious about ideas quote page.

I have been having fun adding quotes to my mixed media and collage garden pictures. I layered the rose cutout between layers and stitched it at random. Pansies - Thoughts of Thee

I love these colors and pansies are one of my favorite flowers because of the details. The background image is from a neighboring tree that I am having a lot of digital fun with.

Botanical Happiness Always Card.

Started with an actual painted paper towel background then added a few pressed dried leaves and flowers. Sprinkled some hole punch scraps at random. Finished off with random machine stitch and some glimmer to add dimension to this card. Definitely one of a kind!

Card Portfolio box using image transfer and collage.

This card box is actually called "Card Portfolio" and holds about 5 of the standard greeting cards. They make a wonderful gift. Enjoyed doing the image transfer and collage on front then stamping to attract some pixie dust.

Mini cards using cuttlebug embossing folder textures.

These are what I call mini cards. They are just the right size for dropping a few words to someone. I also package these up in sets of 5 or 6 with a handmade envelope each and box * them up for gifts also. I love textures - it adds a wonderful dimension to a plain piece of paper.
* The boxes I make also. See label: Button box to view those.

Hand stitched twin lacey lampshades in whites.

I call these the twin lampshades. They are done similar except for the oblong panel which I used a wide sheer diamond ribbon on. These are hand stitched and fully lined. Takes approximately 35 to 40 hours for EACH one. I am hoping this winter to make another shade using vintages laces and linens in a patchwork design. Just need to do it all in my head first. (Photo mask border by Sandra Foster using Photoshop)

Couple playing music on ivy sheet music background.

This was so enjoyable to do. Used some vintage sheet music which I hand painted. I positioned the ivy leaves on sheet music to act as a mask then sprayed with various paints. Scanned it into pc and used it as a background for this nostalgic scene. This is where Photoshop shines for my use. I did not stamp my copyright info on this piece as I am giving it away to who ever wants it for a journal cover etc. Please credit and link to this blog when using is all I ask. Enjoy!

Bird themed tray using designer dinner napkins.

Used several of the Golden products to adhere the tissue and to also seal the surface so it can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Used the crackle technique and then ran a sanding block around the edges to give it that worn look.

CD Art with swirl stamped design

I have lots of old cd's so thought I would make a few into coasters. For this one I blotted on various alcohol inks then stamped a swirl design with a permanent black ink. Immediately rubbed off the black ink with a paper towel which revealed the background of the cd. This one looks great under a candle as it covers the hole in the center.

ATC's using roses etc.

I love upcycling bits and pieces from tissue boxes, old birthday cards etc to make things like these ATC,s. On the bottom picture I even added some fine curled wire.

"We cannot tell the precise moment" poem on mini card box.

This was so much fun to make. I found the poem from someone's blog. (If it was yours please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due.) Glued cheesecloth on edges and drew in with needle and thread anchoring with a shell bead. CLICK ON IMAGE TO SEE DETAILS.

White hand made lampshade with double fringe.

Just working with this photo inspires me to get busy and make another one. Notice it has a double fringe on it and is fully lined which makes it twice the work. Eye candy and actually useful when done.

Kiss me Mother, kiss your darling music pedestal.

This was from a cover of a sheet music magazine approximately 100 years old. Preserved it by placing on a round sheet of plywood before attaching it to a "spindle" base . This took hours and hours but will make an unusual gift for someone. CLICK ON PHOTO FOR DETAILS.

Oh, these are so pleasurable to make and the ideas are endless.

Small victorian band box made with vintage sheet music.

This box was such a treasure to make. Started with a large sheet of illustration board from Staples and measured out the sized for lid, sides and bottom. Cover each with a patchwork of vintage sheet music. On the top I stamped the bird. The "ribbon" was made from the tape transfer technique and has the see thru look. Used some old jewelry given to me for the cluster holding it all in place. It was tons of work. I did three in 3 different sizes. Will share the other at a later posting. Thanks for reading.
