Crazy quilt heart with vintage hankies and beaded chiffon edging.
Made this heart with vintage handkerchiefs etc. Printed out the word "Friend" onto chiffon and used it as an overlay. Used chiffon to conceal edges of foam core by adding a bead every inch or so finish it off. CLICK ON IMAGE TO SEE MORE OF THE DETAILS. Thanks for stopping by.
I really like this, it's beautiful and such a clever way of using old hankies.
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful!!! I have a lot of antique hankies. I sometimes wonder what I could do with them. I'm to afraid to cut them. But after seeing this, I think I will give a few of them a try. Awesome--as usual!
ReplyDeleteHi friend! I haven't been able to stop by in awhile (the new job has monopolized my time most days, unfortunately), but want you to know how much I've appreciated your wonderful words of support! They've touched my heart!
ReplyDeleteI love the hankies and the way you incorporated them into this project...they remind me very much of the ones that belonged to my grandmother. As a little girl, I loved sitting at her dressing table and taking each of the delicately embroidered handkerchiefs out of a drawer, one by one, pretending I was a glamorous '40's or '50's "it" girl, like Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly. I wish I knew what happened to those hankies...both of my grandparents died within the last ten years, and when their house was sold, a lot of Maema's beautiful things went MIA, I guess.
I love vintage hankies and I love your heart, beautiful work :)
